Before You Begin

Installation Steps

Download FamilyCodex

Choose your version:

Free Version

No account required

Download Free

Pro Version

Account + purchase required

Get Pro

Already have an account? Go to Customer Portal

Upload Files

Extract the ZIP and upload to your web server:

1. Extract familycodex.zip

2. Upload to: public_html/ or www/

3. Set permissions: chmod 755 for folders, 644 for files

4. Make data/ writable: chmod 777

Log In as Administrator

Navigate to your domain and log in with the default admin account:

https://yoursite.com/

Default credentials:

Username: admin

Password: password

Important: Change your password immediately after first login!

Activate License

Enter your license key (from purchase email):

  • Log in with your admin account
  • Go to Settings → License
  • Enter license key and activate

Troubleshooting

500 Internal Server Error

Check file permissions. The data/ directory must be writable (chmod 777).

White Screen / Blank Page

Enable PHP error reporting in your .env file or check your server's error logs.

PHP Version Too Low

FamilyCodex requires PHP 8.1+. Contact your hosting provider to upgrade.
